About the program

Intriguing and uplifting classical music spanning four centuries:
American Public Media present The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra (The SPCO) in concerts that are recorded at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul and other urban locales. Twenty-six programs are distributed from January through June for national broadcast use (local station scheduling may vary). Host Michael Barone helps listeners get the most from each concert by sharing personal insights, providing historical context, and chatting with conductors, guest artists and composers.

The Broadcast Team
Broadcast host Michael Barone shares his knowledge and enthusiasm for classical music each week. Trained in performance and music history, Barone is also the host of American Public Media's award winning program, Pipedreams.

Laurel Kartarik produces The SPCO broadcasts, and has been part of The SPCO broadcast team for 16 years. She recently was awarded a Gracie Allen Award for "displaying superior quality in writing, production, and programming."

Michael Osborne is responsible for what you hear, the audio recording and in-studio post-production engineering of The SPCO programs. He has been part of the The SPCO broadcast team for 10 years.
